Ferhan Hasani, who turns 25 years old later this month, will be playing for a new team next season. As a pending free agent, Hasani’s agent and Brøndby could not agree on a new deal, resulting in Wednesday’s announcement.

Sporting director Per Rud said the following about Hasani on Brøndby’s website, “Ferhan is a really good football player, especially showing his qualities during this 2nd half of the season. We could definitely foresee a future with him at the club, but unfortunately we came to the realization that reasonable terms for an extension could not be reached after long negotiations. It’s too bad for both sides, but although we stretched ourselves and offered an improved contract, it is important for us as a club to show financial responsibility. We wish Ferhan the best of his luck in his career moving forward.”

Hasani originally joined Brøndby on the last day of the 2013 summer transfer window from Wolfsburg. He has since accumulated 7 goals in 36 league games for Brøndby. There were stretches where he battled injuries, but he was able to put together consistent performances this spring.

Brøndby fans have been writing for weeks for Hasani to extend his contract, so there were many disappointed supporters upon hearing today’s news. Ferhan will be given flowers by Brøndby this Sunday when they host Esbjerg in the final round of the Danish season. Besides Hasani, Michael Falkesgaard and Holm Bert Fridjonsson will also be leaving the club.

As for his next team, Hasani should draw interest from the top 5 European leagues. The league in Denmark is heavily scouted and based on his contract demands, it seems that Ferhan’s agent is confident that his client will receive lucrative offers this summer.
