Euro summer: Tikvesh in Skopje’s heat, Struga in Ohrid, Shkendija at night

UEFA confirmed the official kick-off hours for the three Macedonian team in the European Cups.

1.MFL champions Struga in the the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League will play as host at the Atina Bojadji stadium in the Sports complex Biljanini Izvori in their nearby city of Ohrid. This stadium in approved by UEFA, but only for the opening qualifying round. If Struga advances it will have to move to Skopje. Struga will host the return leg of the tie with Slovak champion Slovan on 17 July at 17.00 CET. It will be hot in Ohrid, but the nearby Lake Ohrid will reduce the heat a bit.

Macedonian Cup holders Tikvesh will play as hosts in the capital city of Skopje at the National Arena Todor Proeski. In the opening leg of the 1st qualifying round of the Conference League the Kavadarci based club will host Icelandic side Breiðablik under the Skopje harsh summer heat at 17.00 CET on July 11. It is unclear for us why Tikvesh opted for this very unpopular time for both players and spectators. The temperature in the capital in mid July goes up to 40+ degrees. The visitors from Iceland will definitely have problems adapting to the heat, but the conditions are hostile also for the Macedonian players.

The last Macedonian representative in Europe this summer, Shkendija from Tetovo, opted for a normal summer kick-off time. The 1.MFL runners-up will host Armenian side Noah at the National Arena Todor Proeski in Skopje under floodlights at 20.00 CET on July 18, in the return leg. Shkendija clearly does not want to save money when it comes to paying a higher price for renting the National Arena, everything in order so the players can have better conditions to give their best on the field.
