Goalkeeper Edin Nuredinoski was all set to join Rostov but the club decided to go in another direction once Stipe Pletikosa became available.
Some media already reported that the Nuredinoski transfer to Rostov was official but that was not the case. He was training with Rostov and he was one of the candidates they were considering for the keeper position but the Russian club ultimately decided to sign Croatian international Stipe Pletikosa. Nuredinoski was the favorite to be signed early this week but things quickly changed once the veteran Pletikosa became available. Pletikosa was on trial at Scottish club Celtic but he was not offered a contract so then Rostov contacted him to confirm their interest. That news was bad for Nuredinoski as Rostov chose Pletikosa over Nuredinoski and gave the Croatian keeper a 2 year deal. Rostov was looking to strengthen the goalkeeping position and Pletikosa made sense since he was a veteran and has already had success playing in the Russian top division.
Edin will now most likely return to Cyprus with Ethnikos Achnas. He has one more year on his contract and Nuredinoski really wanted to join a bigger club this summer but he will have to wait a bit longer for that to happen. Edin is considered one of the best keepers in Cyprus and should return as the starting keeper for Ethnikos Achnas which features another Macedonian in Stojan Ignjatov.
