A relegation battle between Pelister and Teteks will take place on Sunday so we used the opportunity to ask few questions to Toni Veljanoski and Risto Mitrevski.
28-years-old central defender of Pelister, Toni Veljanoski and his seven years younger colleague from Teteks, Risto Mitrevski will face each other in a very important battle. They played together in the second half-season 2010/11 at Napredok, forming the central defending duo.
Pelister is near the bottom of the table when everyone is expecting a much higher position. What should change and what can we expect in the remaining of the season?
Toni: According to the way we played this season we didn’t deserve to be placed so low on the table. In the remaining of the season we are left with only one mission, to collect as much points as we can and to climb on the table. We lost our chances in the Cup so we must finish well in the league.
According to many people Teteks has a team for a much better position on the table, but instead you are at the bottom. What went wrong and can we expect avoiding the relegation positions in the remaining of the season? Of course this game against Pelister is very important as it’s a direct battle for avoiding relegation, so what do you expect from it?
Risto: We had a very bad start of the season, but now we are playing much better and I think that if we continue this way we have a solid chance to stay in the league. Of course this game is of tremendous importance and everyone at the club believes that we can get the 3 points.
You are hosting Teteks in a very important game as it’s your direct rival for avoiding the relegation. Does the team feels any pressure for this game or the players are expecting it like any other? Of course Pelister will strive for the 3 points, so why do you think you can win?
Toni: Although Teteks is dead last they aren’t a naive team at all. For us this game is like all other games, we go for a win as these 3 points are of tremendous importance for the rest of the season. I think Pelister will win!
Despite the bad record so far, you still have a chance to safe the season through the Cup. Can Teteks repeat the success from few seasons ago and lifting the trophy to get a place in the Europa League?
Risto: Looking at the draw, the semi-final duel with Sileks gives as a huge chance to reach the final and then get a place in the Europa League.
You have changed several clubs in your career. You became champion with Vardar and now you are back in Pelister. Will you try to make a transfer abroad you will stay with Pelister?
Toni: In this moment I’m concentrated on Pelister as currently it’s my club. I would like to make a transfer abroad in the future, it’s something that every player would like to see it happening in his career.
On several occasions you were close to make a transfer abroad, but that never happened. Can we expect Mitrevski to leave Teteks in the next two transfer periods?
Risto: Of course it can happen, but only I have a solid offer from some club. But, in this moment I’m only thinking about the remaining two games featuring Pelister and Shkendija.
What do you think about Risto Mitrevski who will face you in this game?
Toni: We were teammates in Napredok. Besides everything he is a great person, good footballer for whose qualities I’m well aware of.
What do you think about Toni Veljanoski who will face you in this game?
Risto: I know Toni as we were teammates for 6 months in Napredok. I respect him and I have a good opinion for him not just a player but as a person as well.
We wish them a good game on Sunday and may the better team wins!
