The 1.MFL starts on Friday, 8 August, but who will open the season is still unknown. According to information from the FFM, the draw for determining the pairs will be held on Wednesday, 30 July, when the schedule will finally be known, and especially what everyone is interested in – the pairs for the opening round.

The 2025/2026 season promises an interesting fight not only for the championship title, where it seems that the defending champion Shkëndija and the stabilized Vardar will fight, but also for avoiding relegation. FFM decided to shorten the first league from 12 to 10 clubs, and because of this, at the end of the season three teams will be directly relegated, and two will play in the promotion/relegation play-offs against two second league sides. That means a hellish fight for staying in among the elite.

Teams competing in the new season:

Arsimi (Chegrane) – debutant
Bashkimi 1947 (Kumanovo)
Brera (Strumica)
Makedonija GjP (Skopje)
Pelister (Bitola)
Rabotnichki (Skopje)
Shkëndija (Tetovo)
Shkupi (Skopje)
Sileks (Kratovo)
Struga (Struga)
Tikvesh (Kavadarci)
Vardar (Skopje)

According to the announcements from the FFM, the matches will not be played only on the weekend, but distributed from Friday to Sunday. At the same time, the VAR system will be used in all matches in the new season. The season will end on 24 May, 2026 (Sunday).

The draw for the 2.MFL and the Macedonian Cup will be made additionally, the date of which will be announced by FFM.
