Attacker Dragan Gjorgiev is Vardar’s first official signing for the upcoming season which will see Vardar defend its domestic league title and participate in Champions League qualifications.
Vardar has announced its first signing for the upcoming season. Forward Dragan Gjorgiev joins the current champions from Horizont Turnovo, newspaper Makedonski Sport reported.
Horizont Turnovo’s president Orce Todorov stated the following: “We reached an agreement with Vardar a couple of weeks ago. We already knew that Gjorgiev would not stay with us next season. He had several foreign offers, but he decided to join Vardar which I also think was his best move. He will show his qualities with the defending champions and with his goals and solid performances, we can later sell him for bigger price. We now need to find a replacement for him, for sure, but I am not afraid. We have many capable young players who are ready to step up.”
According to the article, Turnovo and Vardar will share the profits on Gjorgiev’s next transfer.
Dragan Gjorgiev is 21 years old player whose best position is on the left wing. Besides Turnovo, he had brief loan spells with German clubs Mainz 05 and Paderborn, but he did not see much playing time and returned to Turnovo. After a good 2011/12 season, Vardar has decided to sign Gjorgiev, who is known for his pace and quickness. MacedonianFootball.com conducted an interview with Gjorgiev before the New Year which you can view by clicking here.
