Djelil Abdula to join MSV Duisburg

Djelil AbdulaDefender Djelil Abdula will continue his career with Duisburg, it was reported today on the club’s official website.

After a 10-day trial, Djelil Abdula has managed to secure a move to German second Bundesliga side MSV Duisburg.

Dzelil Abdula, who can play either CB or LB, moves to Duisburg as a free agent.  His former club De Graafschap terminated Abdula’s contract after being relegated to the Dutch second division.  Dzelil did not receive much playing time plus he had a salary that was deemed too high by De Graafschap so the two sides decided to part ways.

Abdula then went on trial to Duisburg and did enough to be offered a contract.  He will need to pass a medical to officially sign the contract which is for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.  Abdula will wear #31 for his new team.

Speaking of Abdula, the Duisburg sports director Ivica Grlic said, “Dzelil is a talented and perspective player who can help Duisburg.  He was recently with us on trial and we believe that he fits our team.”

Abdula, who turns 21 years old next month, began his career with Shkendija, then moved to the Netherlands with De Graafschap, before his latest transfer to Duisburg.  He is currently a member of the Macedonian U21 national team.
