Cup 1/8 finals first leg games played (Video)

After a goalless first half, Cup holders Shkendija scored twice to celebrate in the most interesting game of all first leg matches in the eight-finals of the Macedonian Cup. A replay of last year’s final saw Rabotnichki facing an early elimination as Armend Alimi scored a superb 25 meters goal, while substitute Marjan Radeski later just confirmed the win. Now Rabotnichki has almost a mission impossible to overcome a 2:0 lead in the return leg in Tetovo.

Bregalnica defeated Teteks with 4:0 in Kochani and practically made the return leg an official training match. Lazar Elijev was the hero by scoring a hat-trick. Teteks’ ambitions this season are to avoid relegation from the Second League and therefore the Cup is totally out of their priorities.

Surprisingly, Vardar was losing 1:0 away to Vlazrimi 77 after the first 45 minutes, but at the end the league holders celebrates a 3:1 win. They needed two penalties in order to turn the result in their favor with Juan Felipe converting both of then in a span of only two minutes. Twice the home players played with hand in the box.

Pelister hosted Renova and managed to get a decent 2:0 lead before the return leg. Both goals came before the break. This should be the most interesting tie as both teams are with similar quality.

Turnovo had a 1:1 draw in Kratovo untill the 90th minute when Sileks converted a game winning penalty throuth Antonio Kalanoski. The First League side will definitely have problems in the return leg as Turnovo has an away goal.

A brace by Dejan Zdraveski was crucial for Pobeda to celebrated away in Novaci. The 2:1 road win shpuld be enough for the First League side to advance.

The leaders in Second League welcomed Shkupi and failed to get a positive result. The visitors headerd back home with a lone goal win thanks to Dimitrija Lazarevski who scored 5 minutes before the final blow.

Seven instead of eight games were played due to the fact that Metalurg was drawn without an opponent and is directly placed into the quarter-finals.

The return legs were originally scheduled for 12 October, but since UEFA last night confirmed the moving of the U21 EURO qualifier between Macedonia and Scotland from the 8th to the 11th the same month, FFM will have to additionally find a new date for these Cup games.
