The luck favored the Macedonian champions in today’s Champions League draw as Shkendija was drawn to face Welsh champions The New Saints in the first qualifying round.

Great Champions League draw for Shkendija! Today in Swiss city of Nyon took place the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds. Shkendija was among the unseeded teams and in yesterday’s sorting was placed to be drawn against five possible opponents in APOEL (Cyprus), Qarabağ (Azerbaijan), Sheriff (Moldova), The New Saints (Wales) and Videoton (Hungary). The Tetovo based team hit the jackpot by getting the weakest of the above teams in Welsh champions The New Saints or shortly TNS.

Shkendija will play as host in the first leg scheduled for 10/11 July, while the return leg will be played a week later (17/18).

Right after the first round took place the draw for the second qualifying round. Again Shkendija had the luck on their side as the red and black team was drawn to face the winner of the match between Georgian champion Torpedo and Moldova champion Sheriff.

The winner of Shkendija and TNS will host the first leg on 24/25 July with the return leg scheduled for 31 July or 1 August.

Keep in mind that if Shkendija faces elimination in any round it will continue in the Europa League qualifications according to the new rules applied by UEFA.
