Bulgarian squad announced

Bulgarian national team coach Yasen Petrov summoned 26 players for the Nations League opening match against Macedonia.

Macedonian visits neighboring Bulgaria on 2 June for the opening round of the 2022/23 season of the UEFA Nations League. Bulgarian will lat6er also face Georgia (home), Gibraltar (away) and Georgia (away).

Experienced 33-year-old central defender Vasil Bozhikov of Slovak side Slovan surprisingly did not get a call as well as Ludogorets winger Spas Delev due to poor form.

With 16 domestic based players, the Bulgarian team doesn’t have famous players. Probably the most known player in the squad is 23-year-old CB Petko Hristov who play in the Seria A for Spezia, but in the second half-season lost his place in the first team and was a bench warmer.

The match between Bulgaria and Macedonia will be played at the Huvepharma Arena in Razgrad on Thursday with a kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.
