Kumanovo based Bashkimi 1947 is back in the Macedonian top flight after 16 years after today surprised Besa 1976 in the play-off for filling the first league.

In the play-off match played in Kavadarci between 1.MFL 10th-placed Besa 1976 and 2.MFL third-placed Bashkimi 1947 the later celebrated a 2:0 win. Both goals came from counter attacks for big celebration for the club coming from Kumanovo, the second biggest city in Macedonia that long has been without a club in the top flight.

After being relegated in the second division, Besa 1976 announced that they won’t be playing there or anywhere else in a senior level and will concentrate at their youth teams. that means that there is one more open spot in the 2.MFL, so there won’t be a draw to decide which two defeated teams from Saturday’s play-offs for filling the second league will get promoted. Instead, all three teams of Osogovo, Golemo Konjari and Prespa are promoted.
