FFM announced today that Boban Babunski will lead the national team in Baku, for the friendly against Azerbaijan.
After Mirsad Jonuz has been sacked, the national team is still without a head coach. Therefore, the federation has decided that Babunski will lead the team in Azerbaijan and then return with the U21 national team and prepare for qualification matches.
“As a man from the Federation, I am always here to help the national team. The players that will be called up must give their maximum and play on top level. We hope we can announce the squad tomorrow” – stated Babunski for FFM’s website.
This is Babunski second excursion as national team coach. Previously, he led the team to one win (Liechtenstein 2:1), one draw (Netherlands 0:0) and one defeat (Finland 5:1).
The friendly against Azerbaijan is the last one before the qualification matches in September. Macedonia has so far played 4 matches against Azerbaijan and has 3 wins and 1 draw.
