Srecko Katanec, the coach of the Macedonian team expects three points from the two opening matches for the WC 2010 qualifications against Scotland and Holland that will be played in September.
– Our goal from these two matches is to win three points. The players know this too. It's least important against who from these two teams we will have to win, but we have to win at least one match in order to have interesting qualifications, said Katanec.
Macedonia will start the WC 2010 qualifications against the strongest opponents from the group 9. In the opening matches Macedonia will host Scotland and Holland on 6th and 10th September.
The last test before the start of the qualifications will be the friendly match away to Luxembourg on 20th August. There will be no major changes in the squad in front of the friendly match. Stevica Ristic will be released from duties because he plays in Korea, Aco Stojkov is in search for new club in Norway, while Aleksandar Vasoski will not be called up because of the injury. Later today Srecko Katanec will name the definite squad for the friendly against Luxembourg and that squad list will be not much different from the squad with which Macedonia will start the WC 2010 qualifications.
