Tanevski joins the position after working extensively with the federation’s youth teams, including the U20 side. His previous involvement with the younger generation means he already has a strong understanding of many of the players who are expected to form the core of the new U21 squad.
The new coach will have the opportunity to begin implementing his ideas during the final two matches of the current qualifying campaign, with a focus on giving younger players valuable international experience and laying the foundations for the next qualification cycle.
The federation’s ambition is to build a competitive U21 team capable of achieving improved results while also developing players who can eventually make the step up to the senior national team.
The Football Federation of Macedonia has expressed its appreciation to outgoing U21 coach Goran Stanikj for his work and commitment and wished him success in his future professional career.
