Macedonia mourns another footballer. Aleksandar Pandovski died on Saturday morning from the injuries that he sustained in a car wreck.
Just five days before his 24th birthday, Aleksandar Pandovski succumbed to his injuries that put him in coma. He and his father were involved in a car accident on Monday night when Pandovski, the driver, lost control of his car and hit a gas station at a high rate of speed.
The footballer was stuck in the car for hours before he was eventually taken by ambulance to the hospital. He was in critical condition and placed in a come. On Saturday morning, Aleksandar died of the severe injuries sustained in the crash.
Among teammates he was known as Pando. He was born in Skopje came up through the youth ranks of Vardar, the club where he also made his debut to begin his professional career. That debut happened on July 31, 2010 in the first round of that season against Metalurg. Pandovski was 18 at the time.
Besides Vardar, Pandovski also played for the likes of Rabotnichki, Turnovo and Gorno Lisiche, his last team. Aleksandar was a former youth national team player as well.
