Aleksandar Stankov returned from his one game yellow cards suspension and was back in the Viborg starting lineup for Saturday’s home encounter against Sønderjyske.  Stankov scored a quick goal in the 6th minute to give Viborg a 1:0 lead.  On a counter attack, one of Stankov’s teammates eventually unleashed a shot that was blocked by a visiting defender.  However, the ball took a good pounce and fell in front of the feet of Aleksandar who then slotted a right footed shot from close range to the back of the net.

Then, in the 50th minute, with the score now tied at 1:1 after Sønderjyske converted a penalty several minutes before the halftime break, Stankov’s header following a corner kick from the right was cleared off the line, but fellow Viborg striker Thomas Dalgaard quickly pounced on the rebound opportunity to give the home side the lead once again.  But, Sønderjyske would equalize the game at 2:2 in the 74th minute to collect a point.

Stankov played until the 83rd minute for Viborg and also picked up a yellow card in the 65th minute.  The goal was his 4th of the season in 16 league games.

Meanwhile, in Switzerland’s second division, Ezgjan Alioski scored the game winning goal in Schaffhausen’s 1:0 victory over Chiasso.  It was Alioski’s first goal of the season and it ensured a losing start for new Chiasso manager Gianluca Zambrotta.  The former Italian national team player was named Chiasso manager earlier in the week.

Alioski played the entire game for Schaffhausen, his goal coming in the 65th minute.
