Of the Macedonian internationals, only Agim Ibraimi one season shared the locker room with Davide Astori, the Italian defender who died on Sunday morning.

Agim played the 2013/14 season for Cagliari, which was the last for Davide Astori at this club. He is the only Macedonian footballer that knew Astori personally. Pandev, Trajkovski and Nestorovski have played against him, but only Ibraimi was his teammate. Ibraimi and Astori were part of the team that saved Cagliari from relegation that season, ending 15th.

Astori, 31-year-old, shocked the football world as he never woke up, dying in sleep on the match day in which his Fiorentina was supposed to play at Udinese. He was also the team’s captain.

He was also part of the Italian national team in both games against Macedonia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, in Skopje and in Torino. He was unused sub in both occasions.
