Striker Adis Jahovikj has agreed to terms with Rijeka and will put pen to paper on his contract over the coming week.
The move is definitely a step down on a competitive basis by going from Ukraine to Croatia. Rijeka, though, was the most aggressive team in its pursuit of Adis Jahovikj, and both sides agreed financial terms to seal the deal. Adis was a free agent after his contract expired with Vorskla at the conclusion of this past season. Vorskla made it public last month that they wanted to re-sign Jahovikj, but Adis was looking to leave due to the current political situation in Ukraine.
Jahovikj actually agreed to financial terms with Rijeka earlier in the week, but he won’t officially be presented until next week since Adis was with the Macedonian national team over the past 10 days. However, with his national team obligations now over, he will travel to Croatia to sign his contract and be introduced to the press by Rijeka.
Besides Vorskla, the 27-year-old Jahovikj played in Switzerland with FC Wil and Zürich. He got his big break at Wil after beginning his career in the leagues of Macedonia and Bosnia.
Adis debuted with the Macedonian national team in October of 2012 during a friendly against Slovenia. He also managed to score a goal in that game, and in total he has accumulated 9 appearances with 2 goals for Macedonia’s senior national team.
