Adis Jahovic suspended for threatening referee

Jahovic (in black jersey) has been handed a 10 game suspensionStriker Adis Jahovic of Wil has been suspended 10 games for threatening to kill a referee who gave him a red card in a league match played earlier in the month.

The disciplinary committee of the Swiss Football League (SFL) announced the 10 game suspension for Adis Jahovic earlier today after he apparently threatened to kill a referee who gave him a red card in a league encounter earlier this month.  The incident occurred during a Swiss second division match between Biel and Wil on 5 August.  After Jahovic was shown a direct red card in the 40th minute, he supposedly approached the referee at the halftime break and told him, “If I see you after, I kill you.”

The referee included that threat in his report after the game, and the SFL disciplinary committee decided to hand a lengthy suspension for Jahovic, citing “guilt of threatening the referee and serious unsporting conduct.”  Jahovic has been given five days to appeal the ruling.

The 25-year-old Jahovic, born in Skopje, scored 16 goals for Wil last season and has added 2 more goals in four league games during the 2012/13 season.  Earlier in the summer, he drew interest from Swiss top division sides St. Gallen and Grasshoppers but a transfer fee could not be agreed upon and Jahovic remained with Wil.
