The 30-year-old Aco Stojkov, whose contract with Vardar expired at the conclusion of the first half of the season, is currently negotiating contract terms with FC Botoșani from Romania.  Stojkov is in Turkey at Botoșani’s winter training camp where both sides are attempting to finalize a deal.

Valeriu Iftime, who is the main financier for Botoșani, confirmed the talks with Stojkov to Romanian newspapers.  He said Stojkov has refused to play in friendlies without a signed contract, and that, if a deal is agreed upon, Aco will be one of the highest paid players to ever play for Botoșani.

Botoșani competes in the Romanian top division after winning promotion heading into this season.  Thus far, Botoșani finds itself in 12th place out of 18 teams with 20 points from its opening 19 rounds.  The league season in Romania will resume later this month.
