Talented youngster Valmir Nafiu is currently training with German top division side Hamburger SV.

Former Shkendija player Valmir Nafiu is currently training with Hamburger and could continue his career with the German club.  Nafiu is currently under contract with Swiss side Basel but could be joining another team.

Thorsten Fink, Hamburger’s manager, said the following about Nafiu, “He is a very talented player who can play every position in the attack.”

Fink knows Nafiu from their days in Basel.  Fink formerly managed Basel but left the club last year after being offered the manager job of Hamburger.  It seems that Fink thinks highly of Nafiu and has now offered him a chance to train with Hamburger.  Before choosing Basel, Valmir briefly trained with Barcelona after being recommended to the club by David Babunski, a former teammate of Nafiu on the Macedonian U17 national team.  Nafiu has been with Basel for over a year but his move to that club only became official earlier this summer when he turned 18 years old.  He mainly played for their youth teams.  His potential new team, Hamburger, should decide in the coming days whether they plan on offering Nafiu a contract.
