There are still six rounds left until the end of the 2025/2026 season in the Macedonian top flight and just as much hope for the club from the Skopje neighborhood of Chair not to break the most negative record in the history of the Macedonian first league.
Since the 1.MFL emerged after the breakup of Yugoslavia, this season is the 34th in a row. Since then, history has already been written, and clubs can be ranked in a variety of ways, positive and negative. One such way is the ranking by the number of points won, starting with those with the fewest won in a season. There have been as many as 9 examples when clubs ended the season with a single-digit number of points. Here we do not count the administratively deducted points, but all those won on the green field, because that is how a team’s performance is truly seen.
Shkupi has won only 1 point in 27 rounds played this season, and that was in the fall when they drew 1:1 against Rabotnichki. They have lost all other matches. That is why they are on their way to becoming the leader of this infamous table.
Until this season, the leader was Tikvesh, who finished the 2000/2001 season with 3 points thanks to their lone victory. It is the people of Kavadarci who hope that Shkupi will continue not to collect points and finally, after 25 long years, they will get off the top of this infamous list.
Before Tikvesh took this primacy, the leader was Rudar, who won only 5 points in the 1996/1997 season. From then on, the decline of this club from Probishtip began, which never returned to the Macedonian elite, unlike Tikvesh, which after that record season really hit rock bottom, but not only returned but also won the Macedonia Cup.
It is true that in the final table of last season, the Voska Sport team appears with -5 points. However, this is not a result of the team’s poor performance, but of the fact that 27 points were officially deducted. Since this club actually won 22 points on the green field, it does not belong in this ranking.
Top 10 weakest clubs in the 1.MFL:
- 2025/2026 Shkupi 1
- 2000/2001 Tikvesh 3
- 1996/1997 Rudar 5
- 2009/2010 Milano 6
- 2004/2005 Napredok 7
- 2005/2006 Belasica GC 8
- 1992/1993 Vardarski 9*
1999/2000 Kumanovo 9
2006/2007 Vlazrimi 9 - 1993/1994 Makedonija 10¹
1994/1995 Kozhuf Vinojug 10²
2003/2004 Bregalnica (D) 10² - 1997/1998 Bregalnica 12³
- 2022/2023 Pobeda 13
¹In the first two seasons after independence, 2 points were awarded for a win instead of 3 like today. So, with today’s math, Vardarski would have 11 points, and Makedonija 12 points.
²Kozhuf Vinojug and Bregalnica (D) were each deducted 3 points, so in the final table they actually have 7. However, they still won 10 on the green field.
³Shtip based Bregalnica withdrew from the season midway through, which means that the 12 points won are only from half the matches played.
