Denmark announce squad for WC play-off

Danish national team manager Brian Riemer has summoned 25 players, among which 8 who are expecting a debut appearance, for the semifinal play-off match against Macedonia for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Riemer faces many pro0blems in the defense as long time standard keeper Kasper Schmeichel (Celtic) is out with a shoulder injury, left back Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United) has a hamstring injury, center back Andreas Christensen (Barcelona) has a torn ligament, center back Jannik Vestergaard (Leicester City) last month underwent a groin surgery, while right back Rasmus Kristensen (Eintracht Frankfurt) has an ankle injury

If that is not enough, center back Joachim Andersen is in the team but he can’t play against Macedonia as he must serve a yellow card suspension.

Forward Yussuf Poulsen (Hamburger SV) is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

Among the 8 never capped are the two keepers Hermansen and Jungdal, left back Bak, center back Provstgaard, midfielders Nartey brothers, forward Osula and striker Høgh.

Denmark will host Macedonia on Thursday, 26 March at the Parken stadium in Copenhagen.
