Goalkeeper Tome Pachovski has signed a three year deal to stay in Belgium but move from Beerschot to fellow top division side Mechelen.
After three seasons in Beerschot, Tome Pachovski has decided to leave the club and join Mechelen, where he signed for the next three years, Belgian media reported.
MacedonianFootball.com already reported about this possible move and it has now been confirmed. Pachovski wanted consistent playing time and that was more possible in Mechelen rather than Beerschot. “With Stijn Stijnen in the squad, my chances for playing in Beerschot were reduced” – Pachovski was quoted in the media.
Meanwhile, the first choice keeper for Mechelen last season, Olivier Renard, departed for Standard Liège so there was an opening and Mechelen viewed Pachovski as a good replacement.
“Playing time is very important for me. I had an offer from a club in Turkey which was financially better, but I felt Mechelen was the better option for me at this moment’ – finished Pachovski.
Tome has played for Pelister, Rabotnichki and Vardar in Macedonia before moving abroad to Beerschot. He will now stay in Belgium but move to Mechelen. To date, Pachovski has made 22 appearances for the national team, but wasn’t included in the latest squad for the upcoming friendlies against Portugal and Angola due to a foot operation that he recently underwent.
In the recently concluded Belgian top division, Beerschot finished in 11th place while Pachovski’s new club Mechelen ended two spots higher in the 9th position.
