As expected, Preston Lions and Altona Magic faced off in the final of the 2012 Macedonian Cup for Victoria with Altona Magic winning the trophy.
Both teams won with narrow margins of 1:0 in the semi-final to advance to the final. Preston Lions defeated the host team of Lalor United Sloga, getting revenge from the group stage when they lost 3:1 to the club, while Altona Magic got past Plenty Valley Lions.

In the final, in a very close game, Altona Magic defeated Preston Lions 1:0 thanks to a Stevce Dimcevski goal who was set up after a great solo run by Kliment Dimitrieski. Preston had several chances to tie the game but failed to convert the opportunities, while Altona also had chances to extend the lead. This was Altona’s second title in the past three years as they also played in the 2011 final when they lost 2:0 against Geelong, while Altona beat Preston 3:0 in the 2010 final.

Altona Magic and Preston Lions faced off in the reserves’ final as well with Altona coming out on top again. The two teams also squared off in the 2011 final with Altona winning once again (2:0).

However, Preston Lions eventually won a trophy as their women’s team defeated Plenty Valley Lions in the women’s final. The Lions defended their title from last year when they destroyed Keilor Wolves 6:0.

The draw for next year’s host also took place and Shepparton will organize the 2013 Macedonian Cup. It is worth mentioning that in this edition, the oldest player fielded was 54-year-old Vasko Mitreski from Keilor Wolves.
