Mario Gjurovski is no longer training with the first team of Metalurh Donetsk but did score a goal for the youth team of the Ukrainian club during yesterday’s friendly.
The 26-year-old Mario Gjurovski has fallen out of favor at Metalurh Donetsk and did not accompany the first team for their training camp in Turkey. Instead, he is now listed on the youth team of Metalurh Donetsk where he is the oldest player on the squad since the majority of the players are born in 1993 or later. During yesterday’s friendly between the youth team of Metalurh Donetsk and Evpatoria, the former won 6:0 with Gjurovski scoring the fifth goal for the winning side.
Gjurovski entered the match in the 60th minute as a substitute when his team was leading 2:0. Then, in the 85th minute, with the score at 4:0, Gjurovski scored a goal to extend the lead of his team. The Metalurh Donetsk youth would add one more goal in the 88th minute to complete the 6:0 scoreline.
Mario has only made 7 league appearances for the first team of Metalurh Donetsk since joining the club in the winter transfer window of 2011 from Vojvodina. Gjurovski has performed well for the Macedonian national team but he finds himself in a difficult position since he is no longer on the first team of Metalurh Donetsk. Can he maintain his form on the youth team? Will manager John Toshack even summon Gjurovski to the Macedonian squad in the future if nothing changes about Gjurovski’s status on the team? These questions will need to be answered but there has been no indication that Gjurovski will be sold during this transfer period in the Ukrainian media.
