Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Oleksandria – Dynamo Kyiv 1:3
Goran Popov played the entire game for Dynamo Kyiv and also provided the assist on the second goal for his team in the 56th minute.  Popov showed nice skill in the 51st minute when he chested down the ball before he unleashed a shot from distance with his weaker right foot but it went wide of the goal.  Goran showed good vision in the 56th minute when he provided the assist by making a good low pass to Ideye Brown who did the rest by turning and scoring past the opposing keeper.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Karpaty Lviv – Chornomorets Odesa 1:1
Martin Bogatinov played from the start for Karpaty Lviv and conceded one goal in the 44th minute.  Just before halftime, the visiting team showed good understanding when Serhiy Politylo found Anatoliy Didenko who showed good finishing skills by scoring past Bogatinov.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Volyn Lutsk – Tavria 2:2
Vance Sikov played all 90 minutes for Volyn Lutsk while Besart Ibraimi made his league debut for Tavria by starting on the bench before he entered the game in the 74th minute replacing Lucky Idahor.  Sikov was not at fault on either Tavria goal as the first goal came on a header from a corner kick when one of his teammates lost his marker in the box while the second goal came on a quick counterattack after Sikov went forward to use his size in a set piece situation but the resulting free kick was poorly taken and it allowed Tavria to score on a nicely executed counterattack.  Volyn Lutsk was able to pick up a point by scoring the equalizing goal in stoppage time of the 90th minute.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Metalurh Donetsk – Shakhtar Donetsk 0:2
Mario Gjurovski was an unused substitute for Metalurh Donetsk who suffered a home loss in the Donetsk derby against the defending Ukrainian champions.  Gjurovski has now been left on the bench for the first two league games of the season.

Austria, T-Mobile Bundesliga, Mattersburg – Magna Wiener Neustadt 1:2
Ilco Naumoski played the entire game for Mattersburg and also picked up a yellow card in the 90th minute as his team began the Austrian season with a tough loss.  Mattersburg conceded two soft goals with the first being scored by the opposing keeper who took a long goal kick and the ball bounced and went over the Mattersburg keeper for an unacceptable goal.  The second goal for the visitors came after Mattersburg defender Alexander Pöllhuber made a weak pass back to the keeper that didn’t have much power and that allowed a Magna player to intervene the ball and the visitors scored from that opportunity.

Slovenia, 1. SNL, Maribor – Gorica 2:1
Agim Ibraimi was not among the 18 players called up by Maribor because of a minor injury.

Slovenia, 1. SNL, Olimpija Ljubljana – Celje 0:3
Dragan Cadikovski started for Olimpija Ljubljana and played until the 22nd minute when he was replaced by David Kašnik.  Cadikovski was sacrificed early in the game because an Olimpija defender picked up a red card in the 18th minute which left the team vulnerable in the back so the manager decided to substitute the attacking minded Cadikovski and bring on a defender.  However, Celje scored three times in the 2nd half to pick up a convincing victory in the opening round in Slovenia.

Slovenia, 1. SNL, Mura – Koper 1:0
Filip Timov did not play for Koper who suffered a narrow road loss against newly promoted side Mura.

Slovakia, Corgon Liga, Žilina – Košice 1:1
Darko Tofiloski played from the start for Košice and conceded one goal in the 36th minute.  The Slovak season also started this week and Košice should be satisfied to open the season with a point against a team like Žilina on the road.

Sweden, Allsvenskan, Djurgården – Mjällby 1:0
Daniel Ivanovski remains out with an injury for Mjällby as he has been out of action for several months due to a broken collarbone.

Kazakhstan, Premier-liga, Astana – Taraz 1:0
Bobi Bozinovski started for Astana and played the first 45 minutes before he was substituted at the start of the 2nd half by Anatolie Doroş.  Astana scored the only goal of the game in the third minute of stoppage time in the 90th minute when Dragan Bogavac converted a penalty.
