Defender Mite Cikarski of Vardar has joined Kaiserslautern on trial, reported German newspaper BILD.
Mite Cikarski, who turned 21 years old earlier this month, is currently in Belek, Turkey on trial with Kaiserslautern, a club that competes in the German second division. BILD reported that Cikarski joined Kaiserslautern training on Friday and will spend the next couple of days looking to convince the coaches of his qualities.
Cikarski is a left-back who can also play further up the field in left midfield as well. He is now under contract with Vardar. Mite has played for the youth national teams of Macedonia, and also has one cap for the senior national team as well. That came during a friendly against Poland in December of 2012. He played all 90 minutes in a game that finished 4:1 for Poland. As a reminder, that was a game in which former manager Chedomir Janevski primarily tested players from the domestic league.
The starting left-back for Kaiserslautern during the first half of the season was Chris Löwe. Cikarski, if signed, could provide added depth there or play in midfield. Kaiserslautern is currently in third place of the German 2. Bundesliga, a spot that leads to the promotion play-off. They are just 4 points behind the second placed team.
