Darko Tasevski was interviewed by the Thailand version of goal.com where he talked about a number of topics, including his talks with Mario Gjurovski and whether moving to Thailand will present a problem to his national team status.

Concerning his talks with Gjurovski, Darko said that Mario told him that the Thai league is considerably less demanding compared to European leagues.  The speed of play was slower and there was huge disparity between the best and worst clubs in the league.  Furthermore, although Mario was his friend, Tasevski stated that his goal is to prove that he is a better player than Gjurovski during his time with Bangkok Glass.

The reporter than asked Tasevski whether moving to Thailand will present problems for his status on the national team, since Gjurovski had not been called up for Macedonia after he moved to Thailand in 2011.  Darko responded that he is confident that he will continue to be part of the national team, citing the change in coaching staffs and the need for competition at every position.

Over the past several years, the Macedonian national team has not featured many players who played their club football in Asia.  Usually, players like Stevica Ristikj and Slavcho Georgievski (when both played in South Korea) would win call-ups here and there, but they were never regulars.  However, the appointment of new manager Boshko Gjurovski may change the philosophy of largely avoiding Macedonian players based in Asia.  Gjurovski spent the past five years in Asian football as assistant coach at Japanese side Nagoya.  He is also familiar with many of the other Asian leagues since Nagoya participated several times in the Asian Champions League, which is similar in format to the UEFA Champions League.

Granted, the players based in Asia will still need to possess the necessary quality, but Boshko Gjurovski should at least be more understanding in not eliminating a player from consideration just because he plays his club football in Asia.
