UEFA fines Vardar 20,000 Euros

UEFA has fined Vardar 20,000 Euros for improper conduct by the club’s fans in the two Steaua matches of Champions League qualifying.

Vardar received UEFA’s fax yesterday stating that the defending Macedonian champions have been fined 20,000 Euros for improper conduct by the club’s fans in the two Steaua matches in Champions League qualifying.  Specifically, some of the reasons for the fine included improper behavior by the Vardar fan group “Komiti” in the match that took place in Romania along with the lack of organization for the trip to that country as well.  Additionally, the lighting of five firecrackers was also mentioned in the decision to fine Vardar.

Vardar has five days to file an appeal regarding the fine.  If no appeal is filed, then the ruling becomes final and Vardar will have 90 days to pay the 20,000 Euros fine.
