In the middle of last week, we caught up with Krste Velkoski prior to his team’s game against Željezničar in the Bosnian Cup.
Krste Velkoski turned 26 years old last month and recently transferred to the Bosnian league with FK Sarajevo. Prior to his move there, Velkoski had played in Macedonia, Romania and Cyprus. He featured for Ceahlăul in Romania, while his Cypriot club was Enosis. Krste was brought to Enosis by Chedomir Janevski who was the club’s manager at that time, but his stint was brief before he returned to the Macedonian championship.
In Macedonia, Velkoski experienced the most success while playing for Rabotnichki. He served as the captain of the club and was the second leading scorer in the league, behind Dejan Blazhevski, before he opted to transfer to Sarajevo during the past winter transfer window. After his move to Bosnia, where he has already scored 3 goals, Velkoski was rewarded by Macedonian manager Boshko Gjurovski who summoned him to the squad for the friendly against Latvia earlier this month.
Before the Sarajevo vs. Željezničar match in the Bosnian Cup last Wednesday, we caught up with Velkoski for a quick question and answer session which you can read below.
MF: Krste, you spent the past couple of years with Rabotnichki. What will you most remember about your time with the club?
KV: I will best remember the matches in the Europa League against Anorthosis and Lazio.
MF: In the winter, you decided to sign with FK Sarajevo from Bosnia. How confident are you that Sarajevo is the right team to advance your career?
KV: You can never be too sure that you have chosen the right team, so we will see in the upcoming period whether I made the right selection regarding that.
MF: What position best suits you and why do you think that?
KV: I can play all positions in attack. Left and right wing, as a central striker or as a support striker. However, I feel that the support striker role suits me best because of my technique.
MF: Besides Macedonia, you have also played in Romania, Cyprus and now Bosnia. How would you compare those leagues?
KV: Every league is different, you can’t really compare them.
MF: Lastly, you debuted with the senior national team of Macedonia on 5 March against Latvia. How was that feeling for you?
KV: Representing one’s national team is the dream of every footballer. That meant a lot to me and hopefully I will continue to wear the national team colors in the future as well.
The next two interviews that we will publish involve Muarem Muarem and Mirko Ivanovski, both current members of the senior national team of Macedonia. Both of our interviews with Muarem and Mirko were more thorough as they openly responded to our questions. Come back to the site over the next couple of days to learn a little bit more about Muarem and Ivanovski.
