Borec celebrated a lone goal win away to Vardar in the opening match of the new season in the Macedonian top flight.

Because of the big financial debt Vardar faced many problems in the pre-season resulting in most of the players leaving the club. Today they fielded a mix of senior and youth players, so the win of Borec wasn’t that much of a surprise.
The visitors could easily win by a bigger margin, but they missed several good occasions. The winning goal came in their first chance early in the 2nd minute. Brazilian international Fernando Silva dos Santos perfectly served Serbian attacker Nikola Radović who beat home keeper Filip Ilikj.
Highlights:
It is the first time Borec to celebrate at Vardar in the history of the Macedonian league since the inaugural season of 1992/93.
All the other matches of the opening round will be played on Sunday with a kick-off set for 17.30 CET.
