A highly intense match played in Skopje’s neighborhood of Madjari brought two red cards, one big brawl, two goals, good ultras atmosphere but also insulting chants as Vardar and Shkëndija played a 1:1 draw.

Too bad the match was not played at the National Arena Todor Proeski, the original home of Vardar, as definitely there would have been far more spectators. The lone stand at Boris Trajkovski stadium was packed with fans also in the surrounding areas.

Vardar took the lead early in the 18th minute when after a corner Brazilian international Matheus Lemos scored on a header. Vardar had several good opportunities to double the lead, of which the best was in the second half when Gambian substitute Kebba Suso’s shot was cleared from the goal line.

Shkëndija also had chances, first to equalize, and later to take the win. The Tetovo visitors found the equalizer in the 80th minute Bosnian international Aganspahić scored on a header.

In the 53rd minute an incident occurred when in a duel Melikji pushed Omeragikj who ended up in the nearby fence. Almost everyone on the field started a drawl that resulted with both Melikji and Omeragikj being sent off as the already were booked. On his way out, Melikji kicked the fence door and a new brawl started. Later the match had to be played with 9 minutes of injury time.

Referee Pileshkov from Shtip did a great job today.
