After a goalless first half in which the young Macedonians were the better side creating several chances, Gligor Buchkov broke the dead lock in the 57th minute, bringing the lead for the visitors from Strumica. Ten minutes from time Buchkov doubled the lead and sealed the win. Three minutes from time substitute Filip Kuleski score for 3:0 after a second assist by Bojan Velkov.
This is the first time that a Macedonian team managed to win a match in the UEFA Youth League as all previous attempts made by various teams were unsuccessful. Also, so far no Macedonian team has ever managed to advance into the next round. Brera Strumica now has great chances to become the first.
The return leg will be played in Strumica on 14 October.
