Attacker Mirko Ivanovski has found a new team as Romanian top division side Astra Ploiești announced today that Ivanovski was one of three players signed by the club.
Mirko Ivanovski moves to Astra Ploiești as a free agent after his contract with Arka Gdynia expired at the conclusion of this past season. The contract length was not specified but Ivanovski along with Andrei Mureşan and Gabriel Enache were the first three signings for Astra Ploiești.
Ivanovski was born in Bitola and began his career with his hometown club Pelister. He also played for Makedonija Gjorche Petrov in the domestic league before moving abroad. The move to Astra Ploiești will be his third foreign adventure after Slavia Praha (Czech Republic) and Arka Gdynia (Poland).
Mirko finished on a bad note with Arka. He had a falling out with the coach and club management and finished his tenure there by playing for the reserves. However, despite that predicament, Ivanovski has quickly found a new team in a solid Romanian league. Astra Ploiești finished in 12th place out of 18 teams in the top division last season. Ivanovski will become the third Macedonian to ply his trade in Romania after Kristijan Naumovski with Dinamo Bucureşti and Bazhe Ilijoski with Brașov.
The 22-year-old Ivanovski has been capped six times by the Macedonian national team and has scored one goal, coming in the EURO 2012 qualifier against Andorra.
