The FFM Board of Directors has decided to appoint Aleksandar Tanevski as the head coach of the newly formed Macedonian U20 national team.

“Aleksandar Tanevski in the past eight seasons of his coaching career has managed a total of 196 official matches as head coach in the first and second Macedonian football leagues.” – said FFM.

He began his coaching career in Skopje, securing a place in the top flight, and repeated the same success with Makedonija GjP, a team with which he played in the final of the Macedonian Cup and secured a place in the European Cups. He worked at Akademija Pandev, while his last engagement was at Besa 1976.

Macedonia has so far had youth national teams U21 and U19, but no official U20, although there were U20 national team matches, but led by the U21 coaches. Its formation will fill the gap and allow footballers who are between the two generations to play matches in a separate category. Otherwise, there is no UEFA competition for U20 players.
