Numerous players who originate from Macedonia and still have the right to play for Macedonia had games this week and below is a recap of their performances.
Austria, T-Mobile Bundesliga, Austria Wien – Admira Wacker Mödling 2:4
Midfielder Emin Sulimani entered the game in the 81st minute for Admira replacing Rene Seebacher while his younger brother Benjamin wasn’t called up because of an injury. Their club recorded an upset victory over Austria Wien.
Austria, Erste Liga, First Vienna – Rheindorf Altach 0:1
Orhan Ademi started and nearly played the entire game for Altach but he was substituted in the 90th minute.
England, Premier League, Newcastle United – Fulham 2:1
Defensive midfielder Pajtim Kasami played until the 73rd minute for Fulham when he was replaced by Andy Johnson. Kasami joined Fulham earlier this summer from Italian club Palermo.
England, Premier Reserve League, Everton Reserves – Fulham Reserves 0:2
20 year old midfielder Alexander Kacaniklic played the entire game for Fulham and provided the assist on the first goal scored by Alex Brister. He maintained his good form after scoring a goal in the previous match.
Greece, Super League, PAOK- Xanthi 1:0
Forward Marko Markovski came on in the 68th minute for Xanthi, thus making his league debut for his new team. At Xanthi, he is joined by another Macedonian in Marjan Altiparmakovski.
Poland, Ekstraklasa, Wisła – Lechia 0:1
Ivica Iliev played until the 65th minute for Wisła and was given a yellow card in the 34th minute.
Slovenia, 1. SNL, Olimpija – Maribor 4:1
Left back Dejan Trajkovski was an unused substitute for Maribor. His club suffered a heavy defeat during the big Slovenian derby between Olimpija and Maribor.
Sweden, Allsvenskan, GAIS – Mjällby 3:0
Goalkeper Dime Jankulovski played from the start for GAIS and kept a clean sheet. With the win, his club climbed to 4th place on the table with seven rounds remaining until the end of the season.
Champions League qualifications, APOEL – Wisła 3:1
Ivica Iliev began the game on the bench for Wisła before he entered the game in the 58th minute. He also received a yellow card in the 90th minute. The forward couldn’t help his club reach the Champions League group stages so they will settle for the Europa League.
Europa League qualifications, Dinamo Bucureşti – Vorskla 2:3
Jovan Markoski played all 90 minutes for Vorskla and advanced to the Europa League group stages by winning 5:3 on aggregate against their Romanian opponents.
Europa League qualifications, Dnipro – Fulham 1:0
The 19 year old Pajtim Kasami played the final 19 minutes for Fulham. Despite the loss, Fulham also advanced to the Europa League group stages by winning 3:1 on aggregate.
Europa League qualifications, Rangers – Maribor 1:1
Dejan Trajkovski spent the entire game on Maribor’s bench who sensationally reached the group stages of the Europa League by eliminating Scottish giants Rangers. The referee of the match was Macedonian Aleksandar Stavrev.
Europa League qualifications, Rennes – Crvena Zvezda 4:0
Aleksandar Kirovski was an unused substitute for Crvena Zvezda as he was the #2 keeper behind Boban Bajković. Crvena Zvezda suffered a heavy defeat and was eliminated from the Europa League by French club Rennes.
