Austrian national team coach Franco Foda summoned 24 players, of which six uncapped, for the upcoming 2020 EURO qualifiers against Slovenia and Macedonia. Experienced defender Sebastian Prödl was left out due to lack of playing time at Watford, current top goalscorer Marc Janko underwent a surgery and could not recover in time, while Schalke’s right midfielder Alessandro Schöpf is out with a torn knee ligament. Most of the current squad is compiled of players who play in Germany with few in the domestic Austrian league and only three in other countries.
Besides reserve keepers Pervan and Stanković who are still uncapped, there are three debutantes within the team: Posch, Vallici and Laimer.
