Kostovski’s 3 match suspension upheld

The disciplinary committee of the Royal Belgian Football Association upheld Jovan Kostovski’s three match suspension for his red card last Saturday.

On 1 March, Jovan Kostovski was shown a direct red card during the match between OH Leuven and Lierse.  Several days later, the disciplinary committee in Belgium ruled that Kostovski would be suspended three games and fined 500 for his red card.  His team OH Leuven was not happy with the decision and decided to appeal the ruling.

Today, Jovan Kostovski and a OH Leuven lawyer appeared before the disciplinary committee to make their case for the suspension to be reduced.  However, their appeal was rejected and the 3 match suspension stood.  The only thing that changed on Friday was that Kostovski’s fine was increased from 500 to 600.

So, Kostovski will miss the next three games for OH Leuven, meaning the last two rounds of the regular season and then the first match of what is expected to be the relegation play-offs.
