Both Gaziantep and the Debar Maalo side confirmed the deal. The 19-year-old signed a 4,5 years long contract with an option for an additional year if both sides agree.
Stankovski started his career as a kid at Vardar before moving to Rabotnichki at the age of 13. He is the son of former Macedonian national team second striker Goran Stankovski who briefly played for Rabotnichki and today serves as club’s sporting director.
“Stankovski was a player that we have been following closely for a while. He has shown to have great potential for the future and is well known both in his country and in Europe. We are happy to add such an important young talent to our club. For this transfer, our manager friends Fikret Kileci, Erhan Özmen and our CEO Erhan Yüksek went to Macedonia and managed to convince both the player’s family and club. I think we have made a very important transfer, I wish this transfer to be beneficial for all of us. We welcome Luka once again and wish him success” – says Gaziantep president Cevdet Akınal.
A year ago Stankovski had agreed terms with Serie B side Monza for a summer transfer that latter failed. Monza wanted Stankovski only if he would acquire a EU passport, which he could not.
Gazianter is on the 9th at half-season in the Turkish top flight with 4 points behind the 4th place, the last that leads in the European cups. He is currently member of the Macedonian U21 national team.
