Left-back Goran Popov commented on his injury and stated whether he has a knee operation will be decided in about a week.
Goran Popov told the following about his knee injury to Dynamo Kyiv’s official website, “I felt pain in the knee during the recent Ukrainian Cup game against Shakhtar Donetsk. After a collision with an opposing player, I realized that something was wrong. However, I played through the pain and was able to finish that game. A few days ago, an MRI was done and the results showed a damaged meniscus. The doctor found fluid accumulating in the knee which made it difficult to accurately determine the nature of the injury. The doctor did not say anything about the ligament but I feel that’s all right. In this knee, I had a prior operation while I was playing in the Netherlands. If it’s only the meniscus, then I’ll be able to return in five weeks which is not so bad.”
Popov also said he received a call up from the Macedonian national team for the upcoming friendly against Albania but he will miss the match due to the knee injury. However, Popov will still arrive in Macedonia for a couple of days and get examined further by the medical team for another opinion. He will then decide what to do in about a week. Popov said, “If I notice improvement, I will begin daily therapy but if the pain does not go away, then I will do the operation.”
