Krste Velkoski and Daniel Bozhinovski will fill the last two spots on the national team for the upcoming EURO qualifiers against Luxembourg and Spain.
After the devastating injury to Jovan Kostovski that will keep on the sidelines for at least three months, a replacement was needed. Ljubinko Drulovic has chosen Krste Velkoski of Sarajevo. On FFM’s website, director Sasha Ciric said it came down to Velkoski or Ivan Trichkovski, but Velkoski was chosen since Ivan needs to work on his physical fitness. Krste was missing from the original squad, but the current situation obviously changed that. Many of the Macedonian football fans were pointing to Ilija Nestorovski to get a chance, but the coaching staff chose Velkoski.
Additionally, during Friday’s press conference, Drulovic said that he would call up a third goalkeeper after the weekend. Most assumed it would be Daniel Bozhinovski, and that’s who it turned out to be. Daniel has been in a great form for Rabotnichki, being one of the key reasons why that club has reached the play-off round of the Europa League qualifications. It’s the first time Daniel, 26, has ever been called up by Macedonia’s senior squad.
