Vardari wins 2.MFL West promotion

Winner of the three way play-off for filling the lone empty spot in the second league group West is the team of Vardari.

Since both top flight clubs that got relegated belong to the East group of the second league, the group West was left with one empty spot. The runners-up of the three third league groups were all invited to take part in a play-off group to determine the available promotion spot. Entrants were Fortuna (North), Vardari (West) and Vlaznimi (Southwest).

Vardar defeated Vlaznimi in the opening round with two first half goals. The Struga based team only managed to score a consolation goal deep into the injury time.

In the second round Vlaznimi celebrated over Fortuna and hoped that their oponent will defeat Vardari in the last round so they could end up first thanks to a head-to-head record or goal-difference.

Vardari only needed a point to win history first time promotion in the last round against Fortuna. The team from the capital took an early lead but later Vardari turned around the result. Until the end they added more goals ending the play-off in style.

It will be the first time for the team from the village of Forino to participate on a second league level. Vlaznimi missed an opportunity to get back in the second league after eight seasons of playing in the third level, while Fortuna was also striving for their debut appearance.
