In a rather uneventful half, Macedonia had possession, but not enough to make a breakthrough, while Slovenia had more chances.

Ibraimi tried from distance for the visitors, but Bezjak, Iličić and especially Jokić could have opened the scoreline in the first half. Iličić got a great ball in the 35th minute down the right side, used a feint to neutralize Ristevski but his curled shot went just wide. Minutes later, Jokić had a great chance in the 39th minute when he got a cross, but he missed from close range.

Thirteen minutes after the break Slovenia eventually took the lead. Verbeć made a nice pass for Bezjak who nicely put the ball behind Dimitrievski.

From that point Slovenia controlled the game not allowing Macedonia to make serious attempts. Trajkovski tried from a free kick, but it was an easy save by Oblak. Two minutes from time Kostovski got a ball in the box but instead of shooting, he tried to win a penalty. This was not the first time Macedonia players appealed for a penalty, but the referee did not point to the spot at any occasion. A minute later, Kostovski again was blocked before sending the ball in the net.

Macedonia recorded the first defeat in the fourth match against Slovenia. Interestingly, it is the first time for Slovenia to celebrate a win in the city of Koper as so far they have been defeated twice and once played a draw.

Pandev returned for Macedonia and played the first half. He was substituted by Croatian Premier League top scorer Nestorovski on the beginning of the second half because he suffered a head injury in the first half. Besides him, Trichkovski and Zhuta were also substituted due to injuries. In fact, Trichkovski was transported to a hospital immediately as he might suffered a broken rib. We are awaiting further information about that. For the home team, Milivoje Novaković became the oldest player to make an appearance.
