After last week’s incident, the Football Federation of Macedonia and the Macedonian Ministry of Interior have concluded that because they are incapable to organize a football match with away fans, so they brought the least expected action – banning the fans from the stadiums.
Vardar’s fans, the popular group called "Komiti" got in fight with the local albanian citizens and fans from the area Nerezi on their way to the stadium in Gjorce Petrov before match against Makedonija. On their way back after the match, the local citizens armed with axes, baseball bats and all kind of cold weapon and reinforced with the ultras supporters of Sloga, waited for Vardar’s fans and caused even bigger incident, only because of the bad intervention of the Macedonian police.
So after the meeting today, the Football Federation of Macedonia with suggestion by the Macedonian police, have brought a conclusion that they are not capable to organize a single football match with few hundred away fans, so they have brought the least popular measure and banned fans from watching football. In the next six months, all organized away groups will be banned to travel on the away matches and give support to their teams.
FFM obviously forget that football is played for the fans and they are taking this action just when the Macedonian football became more interesting and the fans returned on the stadiums and watched more Macedonian football on TV. According to the latest research by AGB Nielsen, the match between Vardar and Teteks shown on A1 was watched by 4,5%, same as the match Manchester United – Birmingham.
