ELQ preview: Rabotnicki – Liverpool

Rabotnicki v LiverpoolRabotnicki is facing a great challenge as tomorrow night will face Liverpool in the UEFA Europa League 3rd qualification round.

In front of 20.000 spectators at the National Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje, Rabotnicki is going to play against the Premier League giants from Anfield, Liverpool. All the tickets were sold out in just two days, more that 1.000 fans from England will be there to sing their famous “You’ll never walk alone” which is a promiss for a good stadium athmosphere and a great football night.

Liverpool is definitely the greatest football club that has ever came to Macedonia. Today they arrived at the Alexander the Great airport near Skopje, with a squad without the biggest stars in the team such as Gerrard, Torres, Kuijt, Reyna etc. But it is not important who is playing because in the future none will remember names, it will remain written in history books that Rabotnicki played an official game against Liverpool, the 18-times champion of England.

The most famous names in Liverpool’s squad that came to Macedonia are: Alberto Alquilani, Daniel Agger, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Martin Škrtel and Milan Jovanović. The rest of the squad is: Diego Cavalieri (gk), Lucas Leiva, Danny Wilson, David N’Gog, Jay Spearing, Stephen Darby, Jonjo Shelvey, Martin Kelly, Nathan Eccleston, Daniel Ayala, Martin Hansen (gk), Péter Gulácsi (gk), David Amoo, Lauri Dalla Valle and Thomas Ince. Despite the club doctors advice not to take players that played at the World Cup in South Africa, manager Roy Hodgson decided to take Agger from Denmark, Škrtel from Slovakia, Jovanović from Serbia and Kyrgiakos from Greece. But, all of them except Škrtel had a small World Cup adventure as their national teams were eliminated in the group stage.

Rabotnicki has squad problems as well as regular player Muarem Muarem left the club just two days before the game and completed his transfer in Turkish second league club Orduspor. But manager Zoran Stratev on today’s press conference said that they will give everything they can to surprise Liverpool.

“I can promise that the players will leave their hearts on the field. I’m hopping on a good result, and a good result for us will be a draw as well. We won’t change our formation which means that we will face Liverpool with 4-3-3 as we always do. Wander, Filho and Fábio Silva will play up front. Our chances are small, but with a good effort we will leave the stadioms with out heads up high, no matter of the result.”

The game’s kick-off will be tomorrow at 20.45 CET with a live broadcast on Kanal 5 tv.
