Season preview

Sileks finished 7th last season, but completely changed the squad for this season. Many first-team players left the team and players were acquired from second league teams and traditionally from Serbian lower league teams. The team is now younger, but players are not well into knowing each other and certainly experience is not on their side. Nevertheless, Sileks showed good results on their preparation and won 6 times, but only Turnovo was an opponent from the same league, every other were from second or lower. Sileks’ new team is yet to be proven, so it will not be a surprise if, in May, we saw them on one of the ‘red’ spots on the bottom of the table.

Pobeda managed to avoid suspensions and points deduction from the football federation of Macedonia despite they were involved in one of the biggest (revealed) scandals in Macedonian football history. But, that did resulted in a 8-year suspension from European matches and certainly there is no bright future ahead for the club from Prilep. Transfers in and out of this club also don’t show good potential. It looks like Pobeda will not have high hopes for the upcoming season and lower part of the table will be their destiny.

Metalurg will surely be far from the position they ended on last season. After maintaining in first league last season, Metalurg’s sponsor announced they will build a strong squad competitive for the top positions and stood by his word. With experienced manager Gjore Jovanovski leading the team, proven players, excellent finances, it would be a surprise if we don’t see Metalurg in the top-of-the-table, competing for places that lead to Europe.

Similar like their biggest rivals Vardar, Pelister also have problems. The management is constantly announcing sponsors but does nothing and important players have left the team, while replacements are still not 100% sure. Finances are surely not enough and it seems like this Pelister will once again have problems just like in the last season. Probably, Pelister should be found on the lowest positions if things don’t change dramatically, and at the moment there is no announcement for such thing. Main problem – finances, just like in many Macedonian teams.

Newcomers Teteks have finally joined the first league. Without bigger problems they have finished first in the Second league and will finally compete in the elite championship, second time in their history. They have made several changes in the squad but together with the second team that promoted to the First league Sloga Jugomagnat, it will not be fair enough to predict where they will end on the table.
