Take a look into our predictions for the upcoming season in the Macedonian top flight. According to how the clubs did on the transfer window so far, we can put together a table and see in late May if we have managed to hit something.

With the Macedonian league starting on the weekend now is a good time to release our predictions for the 2019/2020 season. Saturday is the day when four of the Round 1 matches will take place with only Vardar against Makedonija GjP scheduled for Sunday.
Even after a disastrous European campaign and a poor transfer window we still expect them retain the title. Even without national team CB Visar Musliu their squad is simply too good for the 1.MFL and we see nobody coming close to them.
Second place was probably the hardest to decide but there is just something about Vardar that makes us think they will do it. After key players leaving, a transfer ban and a ban from European competitions it’s now time to see what the younger players can offer.
3rd Akademija Pandev
Another tough decision and another team to have a poor transfer window regarding bringing players in. However they have kept their best player in Ljupcho Doriev so far. Our one concern is the manager and if he continues to start Sashko Pandev like he did last season.
A very busy summer for Shkupi with 15 new signings and 11 departures. It will be interesting to see if they click or not. I expect a slow start to the season from them with all the players looking to build an understanding with each other.
A team that we think will surprise a few and go under the radar. They have a new manager in Aleks Vlaho who looks a good appointment so far. They have also done well to sign reserve national team goalkeeper Damjan Shishkovski as well as giving pro contracts to some highly rated youngsters.
6th Makedonija GjP
A team with a very young manager in Aleksandar Tanevski who is 36 which has its positives and negatives. We find Makedonija GjP hit or miss, they lack consistency and we think that’s what will hold them back. They also lost last seasons top goalscorer Hristijan Kirovski.
This will be Struga’s first time competing in the first division and they have had a decent summer so far. They brought in two very strong forwards in Emran Ramadani and Hristijan Kirovski who last season scored a combined total of 20 goals.
Last season Sileks survived via the relegation play-off after beating Tikvesh 4:2. We believe if they want to stay another season in the 1.MFL they will need to win another relegation play-off. Overall a decent summer but we don’t expect Sileks to shock anyone.
Newly promoted Borec will have a very tough time staying up in our opinion, they have not done enough regarding transfers. They recently sold highly rated young striker Marko Gjorgjievski to Serbian side Voždovac and haven’t found a substantial replacement.
Finally Renova, they recently sold last season’s top goalscorers in Vlatko Stojanovski and still haven’t signed a replacement on the same level. They have simply lost to many first team players this window and haven’t done enough to replace them.
