Netherlands: Maarteen Stekelenburg, Gregory van der Wiel, Andre Ooijer, Joris Mathijsen, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong, Dirk Kuyt (Ibrahim Afellay, 80), Wesley Sneijder (Rafael van der Vaart, 75), Arjen Robben (Ryan Babel 46,) Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The hosts' early pressure told first, after 16 minutes, when Dirk Kuyt slid in to finish from Arjen Robben's attempted shot, and then as Klaas Jan Huntelaar confirmed his own sparkling form nine minutes later. Huntelaar lobbed goalkeeper Tome Pacovski expertly after the visiting defence had harried Robben away.
Four minutes before the break, Huntelaar's Real Madrid CF team-mate Sneijder picked out Kuyt at full sprint and, after beating one defender, the forward registered with a fine shot into the far corner. Ryan Babel replaced Robben in the second period and twice tested Pacovski before the Netherlands made it 4-0 two minutes from time. Another substitute, Rafael van der Vaart, completed the rout with a turn and shot.

Srečko Katanec: We played bad. We showed that we're not prepared enough to play against our opponent who punished our mistakes and dominated in the match. I only asked for our players to stand closer to their opponents and to try and stop them. Anyway, Holland showed that they are much better and deserved the win.

Goran Pandev: We knew that it will be a tough match. In the first half we didn't fulfill the demands from our coach and that's why we were defeated. This is our reality. They are world stars and we should look for our chance on the other matches. They are physically better prepared, used our mistakes and deserved the victory.

Vlatko Grozdanoski:  I injured my ankle after a jump and I couldn't continue. I hope it's not serious. We could have played much better. We didn't played brave enough and we conceded three fast goals and the match ended soon for us. Anyway, I think that we could have played much better. It's obvious that some of the players are not match-fit and it had big influence on the result.
