Mite Cikarski signs in Greece

The left back has been officially promoted as newest signing of top flight side PAS Giannina, a team from the city of Ioannina, the largest in the Epirus region.

Since the summer of 2016 the 25-year-old played on Cyprus for Ethinkos, so so comes to Greece already being familiar with the language. He signed an 1,5 year contract and will be given the shirt with the number 11 which highly extraordinary for someone playing on his position. It is true that he can play as a winger up front, but still, his main position has always being as part of the defense.


Mite was regular for Ethnikos the past half-season, playing 19 out of the 20 games, missing just one. He was teammate with former national team keeper Martin Bogatinov.

Cikarski played local rivals Vardar and Rabotnichki before moving to the Mediterranean island state. Although being born in Strumica, he has started his career in the youth academy of Serbian giants Partizan.

He has been capped for the youth national teams of Macedonia, but for the seniors has so far featured in only 3 matches. Good performances in the best Greek league can force coach Igor Angelovski to give him a chance.

Giannina is currently 13th, two places and 8 points above the relegation zone. The team is lead by experienced coach Ioannis Petrakis who has been in charge since January 2014.
